Starfish Retention Solutions Inc., which makes software to help students stay in school and graduate, has raised $3.15 million.  Through the software, expected to be launched as soon as this week, students book appointments and professors, advisers, and counselors are notified by e-mail of new meetings and get refreshed reports about the level and nature of contact with students.  About 70 institutions, including community colleges and universities, have expressed interest in signing up for the service.
