Rpath raises $10,000,000

RPath has raised $10 million in a series C round of venture capital that the Raleigh company says it will use to bolster its efforts in cloud computing.   Former Red Hat executives Billy Marshall and Erik Troan are the co-founders of rPath. Marshall serves as rPath’s CEO, while Troan is chief technical officer.  Cloud computing refers to the new practice of providing on-demand computer infrastructure over the Internet. Cloud computing groups bring together large numbers of servers and other resources and typically offer their combined capacity on an on-demand, pay-per-cycle basis. RPath helps companies develop applications that can run in cloud computing environments such as Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud.
