JazzD Markets Inc., a Brookline, Mass.-based online directory startup, has raised $8 million in Series A funding.  “Using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, Jazzd Phone offers unlimited local and domestic long distance calling, enhanced 911 service, the ability to receive and forward voice mail messages through e-mail, a website to control custom calling features, and D&E’s own telemarketing call blocking service — all for $29.99 per month.  Jazzd Phone is available to households that have high-speed Internet service. By plugging a D&E Jazzd Phone Adapter into a DSL or cable modem, customers can use their regular telephone to make and receive calls over their broadband Internet connection. The voice signal is converted to a digital signal that travels over the Internet.”
