Pinkberry raises $27,500,000

Pinkberry — The retailer that has inspired almost cultlike devotion will announce today that it has raised $27.5 million in its first round of venture capital.  The investment is the biggest achievement yet for a two-year-old company whose main offering is a sour — sorry, “tangy” — frozen yogurt that comes in two flavors, plain and green tea.  The store offers a wider variety of toppings, from fresh fruit to nuts to breakfast cereal. Still, Pinkberry, which promotes itself as a purveyor of healthful snacks, has become a bicoastal urban phenomenon.
