23andMe raises $3,900,000

23andMe, an early stage genetic information tools and content company whose core mission is to connect people with their genetic information. 23andMe is developing new ways to help people make sense of their genetic information. With the benefit of the latest genotyping technologies and 23andMe’s proprietary software, individuals will be able to gain deeper insight into their ancestry, genealogy, and inherited traits. Google said it had invested $3.9 million in the company, called 23andMe Inc., giving the Mountain View, California-based Google a minority stake in the start-up, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
